Pompom Envy

I have put together a short craft session for you.

I love winter for its knitted hats. However, I am never really fully committed to a pompom but I like the option. I have crafted a way to  easily attach one with no commitment.

This is my preferred method of pompom making. Two cardboard circles, but I add a piece of fabric in between to sew through for extra volume and sturdiness. At the end just loosely sew on a button. You need enough space to attach it to your hat.
Then just button it to any knit. I attached mine to the top of my grey hat I knitted last winter. You can easily just put it on the side, front, middle, multiple ones. Switch hats, switch pompoms.

Below is a commissioned Holiday Card. Best Wishes through the holidays!

All at once.

The Himmelfahrtkommando Trailer is up! So excited for it to be in theaters. Again working with the cast and crew so much fun (I was the costume designer) and I am glad we can finally see on screen.

I participated in TBWA's Advent Calendar, where every day until Christmas a new picture is posted in their windows. For every like on facebook they will donate 1 CHF to Pro Juventute (A non profit helping young kids)  See full info in German:

Count Down

Once the advent calendar is up it seems all you can do is count down to something. Chirstmas, New years... Himmelfahrtskommando Trailer!

This Friday the movie that I worked on, along with a large group of talented people, trailer is premiering. It has been over a year in the making. Months of preparation, a month of shooting(short and intense by full feature film standards) and many many people giving their time, blood and effort to make it. All this week teaser poster will be posted on their Facebook page. So friend up, because I am super excited.

Desk view

Around 10:30 is when my desk is at its prime. Well worked over from the day. Usually when it gets dark in the evening I start pulling out all the drawers and all the boxes.

I have developed some new busy projects, brainless television accompaniment. Mainly knitting herringbone things and embroidering scrap fabric which I turn into gift tags. Can you give a gift tag as a gift?

Lastly, a weather update. Fog over Lake Zurich from Chirstoph's Studio.

I have forgotten to post about things for a while, so I put together some things I missed.

Interhome
I worked together with Chirstoph Gabathuler for a short web spot for Interhome. I designed all the birds and environments.

Window picture from the early snow we had a couple weeks back. But I have working on some personal creatures for fun... that is why there is beading.

Oh Brother

So maybe this was just another excuse to make a boat or a tree. Why not both. A boat in a tree. A boat tree house based on the end scene from the movie Step Brothers complete with mini Playboy magazines. Gallery 1988 has show coming up in tribute to Step Brothers.

There's always money in the Banana Stand!

There was a summer where I think I watched every episode of Arrested Development. This was before online streaming TV so I think we had borrowed the DVD from someone. But needless to say I am big fan of the show. So I am really excited to be in Gallery 1988's tribute show on June 29th.

Also I am sending out Lost at Sea postcards! So email your address to Contact@dbuerli.com and I will send you one.

Month of May

I took off the month of May and went traveling with Jessica. Our journey was full of beautiful sights and interesting people, but also days of strange toilet situations and the desperate search for cheap food. Here is some documentation of my wanderings

Nice, France

Because we were traveling on a budget most of our meals consisted of some kind of bread and cheese. I really like Supermarkets in other countries, it is always a surprise to find out what you actually bought compared to what you thought you did.

Marseille, France

We encountered some high speed winds in Marseille, the seagulls had some trouble flying.
On the train again.

 Montpellier, France

By far the cutest french city I have been in.

Sitting in the park.

Barcelona, Spain

Sleeping in rooms with multiple people you end up having interesting roommates.

Coffee and drawing

Madrid, Spain

Our hostel was a part of a historical building and had the most amazing common room

Love tappas

Paris, France

Saw all the sites with all the thousands of other tourist

nap.

Versaille was impressive. We took a break to paint in Marie Antoinette's Estate, which was kind of ridiculous if you thought about it.

Amsterdam, Holland

Last stop,  and the cutest city. I picked up bed bugs from Paris but I still really enjoyed it.
